What’s the Deal with Jamberry Nails?

I see Jamberry everywhere these days and I’ve always been curious. I love having my nails done. But since Sawyer was born it’s something I’ve had to give up due to time and costs. Having along time to go to the salon is one thing, but the expense is another! Why does it cost so much for some nail polish?

One thing I will always splurge on is a much needed pedicure. Feet are so gross and I’m willing to pay to make mine pretty, ha!

But I missed my pretty fingernails. From time to time I would do them myself but it was so time consuming and they would start chipping after only a day or two. When I saw Jamberry consultant starting to pop up on my social media feeds, I was interested, but I thought there was no way nail “stickers” could be very good quality or last very long.

I was wrong! First, they are not “stickers”, they are called wraps and for good reasons. They do much more than stick on, they adhere to your nail, and if applied correctly, can last for weeks! They can be slightly time consuming to put on but, there’s no wet nail factor! So if I start my manicure (ahem, jamicure) at naptime and halfway through Sawyer wakes up, I can stop and come back to it later. There’s no worry about messing up wet nails!

My experience with Jamberry wasn’t so great at first. I connected with Elisha via Instagram and she hooked me up with a starter kit! I put on my wraps and was confused. I hated the way they felt, I was extremely aware of them and could feel them trying to peel off every time I touched or grabbed anything. Not only that but I couldn’t get them to lay down all the way flat and they were slightly bubbly.

But this wasn’t a problem with the product, this was a problem with me. They actually looked okay, when I looked down at them I couldn’t tell anything was wrong, but the felt so weird! I had put them on incorrectly. I messaged Elisha and told her my woes and she gave me some great tips! First, I definitely needed to make sure my nails were clean first by wiping them down with rubbing alcohol (a step I skipped). I also needed to be more precise and pay more attention while applying them. You have to heat them up (I used a blow dryer) before to apply them to activate the adhesive (this is what makes them more than a sticker, every time you heat it up, the adhesive activates so you can take them off and reapply them if you mess up, and they won’t have lost their “stickiness”). And she suggested using a glass nail file as opposed to a regular nail file for filing off the excess.

I took her advice to heart and we got me another set of wraps. I used all of Elisha’s tips and they turned out so much better! I used my blow dryer a ton throughout the application process and that seemed to help a lot. I would heat it up before application, then apply, to my nail, apply heat again, smooth down, and then apply heat again after I had filed off the excess to make sure it was really on there. This was probably excessive, but I was dying to make it work! I really want pretty nails again.

And it did! My jamicure looks great this time around and I’m not as aware that the wraps are on. They’re not getting caught on anything like the last ones were. I’m so excited!

There are many reasons I wanted to find out about Jamberry and make it work! They’re wraps are so inexpensive. $15 per wrap and each wrap gives your 2 jamicures! That’s less than $8 per manicure. Can you imagine going to the salon and only paying $8 to get your nails done? The second perk is that they should last a few weeks! And if they do get messes up, each wrap comes with a few extras, just in case. I’m really hoping that if I can perfect the application process, I can be a regular Jamberry user! I really miss having my nails done and this seems like the perfect solution.
