The Worst Night

Last night was my worst night with Sawyer in a long time. The four month sleep regression is beyond real. Sawyer has been sleeping through the night since he was 6 weeks old, but this past month has just been so difficult for some reason.

It doesn’t help that we’ve been trying to transition him out of the swaddle. He’s rolling over now, from front to back, and we know it’s only a matter of time before he’s rolling from back to front and we can’t swaddle him anymore.

But his startle reflex is just so strong. Even when he is swaddled we have to be extremely careful when setting him down or he’ll startle himself awake. And lately, he’s been waking up throughout the night more and more and having a hard time going back to sleep.

Shop Small Saturday: Holiday Gift Guide Stop #2 (Tiny Face Big Mess + a giveaway!)

Welcome to stop #2 of the 2015 Holiday Gift Guide! Today, we’re celebrating Shop Small Saturday by talking about a great new etsy shop Tiny Face Big Mess.

Tiny Face Big Mess is an amazing shop filled with handmade items for your little. Britni, the owner, hand sews every piece with love and they are so cute! She currently offers, bibdanas, binky clips, and suck pads!

I know what you’re thinking, I had never heard of suck pads either! But they have really changed my baby wearing experience! If you follow me on Instagram you know I am a huge advocate for baby wearing. It’s one of my favorite things. I wear Sawyer daily for many things, but especially when we walk our dog. Sawyer currently likes to put everything in his mouth. I find myself washing my wrap extremely often because he’s drooling all over it! The suck pads give him something to occupy his mouth with, without dirtying up the wrap!

Holiday Gift Guide Stop #1: Scentbird and Canvas Pop (+ a giveaway!)

Hello everyone! I’m kicking off my Holiday Gift Guide with two companies I’ve fallen in love with. Scentbird and Canvas Pop!

Scentbird

Scentbird is a monthly perfume subscription. You take a personality quiz entitled the “TruScent Reccomender” and it reccomends fragrances that they think you would like. I used the TruScent Reccomender and found it so fun! It gave me an array of floral scents to choose from and I chose Daisy Eu So Fresh by Marc Jacobs.

The first reason I really enjoyed this process is that, I hardly even finish an entire bottle of perfume before moving on to another fragrance. What’s great about Scentbird is that you get one month’s worth of a designed fragrance, and then you can pick a new one! It’s a really affordable way to wear designer perfumes. You can choose a different scent every month, or qeue up your fragrances to be delivered automatically each month. You can pick from 350+ scents for just $14.95 per month.

One Pot Chicken Thighs and Potatoes with Garlic Gravy

I originally found this recipe on Pinterest and was so excited to make it. But, as I was cooking, I just kept getting inspired to tweak it in certain ways! I added potatoes and made the gravy thicker and a few other things. It ended up being really tasty and so I decided to share!

One pot meals are so wonderful. I really do love to cook, but as hectic as my life currently is, I need something as time effective as possible, and one pot meals are great for that!

You will need:

4-6 Chicken Thighs (I like mine with the skin on, but skinless will work fine!)

Garlic (15-20 cloves)

Thyme

1 1/2 cups Chicken Broth

3 Tbsp Flour

Salt & Pepper

2 Tbsp Butter

3/4 cup White wine

2 Tbsp Olive oil

3-5 potatoes (peeled and cubed)

National Prematurity Awareness Month

November is National Prematurity Awareness Month!

Sawyer was born at 35 weeks after I developed severe preeclampsia. We were lucky that his lungs were fully developed and he was big, healthy boy. He needed no NICU time! But my heart aches for the babies born prematurely who weren’t as lucky.

Prematurity is the #1 killer of infants. And 1/10 babies is born prematurely. It’s one of those things that you never think will happen to you, but it’s more common than you might think. Premature births have risen 36% in the last 25 years, and need your attention now more than ever!

Let’s all Just Feed our Babies

12241297_10205666362802019_6344128819327709546_n

This weekend on Instagram, I encountered some hate over how I choose to feed my child in public. And I’m sure we all have. Facebook photos of mothers breastfeeding get reported as inappropriate every day. Exclusively breastfeeding moms hate on formula feeding moms. Pumping moms are forced to pump on the toilet during minimal breaks at the office.

What happened with me is not as bad as any of those things. Basically, a woman told me that I was incorrectly using the #normalizebreastfeeding hashtag because in the picture in question, I was nursing with a cover

Crockpot Chronicles: The Best Meatball Subs

As most of you know, being a working mom, my crockpot gets a ton of love. Tuesday’s and Friday’s are my crockpot days every week. So, I’m constantly finding new recipes and even making some of my own!

I’ve also come across a few crockpot recipes that are not so good. Beware of those with”only two ingredients!” If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

So since I’m using my crockpot so often, I thought I would start sharing the recipes that I found especially good and will be using again! Today, we’re talking Meatball Subs!

I originally found the recipe on Pinterest, but tweaked it a little bit to get the cheese extra melty and the buns toasted. This recipe was so easy! You’ll need:

Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Mozzarella Cheese

Sub Buns

Butter (melted)
