Disclaimer: I received park-hopper tickets from Legoland, CA and a media pass to the unveiling of the One World Trade Center in exchange for promotion. All opinions expressed are my own.
I can’t begin to explain how honored I was, not only to be selected as an official Legoland blogger, but to also be invited to the unveiling of the new One World Trade Center in Miniland, USA. I cannot wait to make many more memories with Sawyer at Legoland as he gets older! We cannot be more excited to be a part of this program!
Miniland, USA is by far my favorite part of Legoland. It is so incredible! I could spend all day there just looking at all the displays (especially the Star Wars scenes…but that’s for a whole other post). Everything is built on a 1:20 scale and it’s amazing. They have models of Las Vegas, Washington DC, London, and more! It’s almost breathtaking seeing all the intricate details and hours of work that must go in to making them.
Once you get over to NYC, you’ll truly be blown away. They didn’t miss a single detail! There’s the subway, there’s Central Park, there’s Times Square, there’s even graffiti. But the One World Trade Center is what will truly grab your attention.
The One World Trade Center is over 26 feet tall, took over 1,200 hours to complete, and is made up of 250,000 legos. It’s the tallest lego tower in the country! This section of NYC Miniland, USA is supposed to be a replica of of the World Trade Center memorial in Manhattan that was built to honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. There’s even a viewfinder made of legos that you can look through and get a bird’s eye view of the Manhattan replica as if you were on top of the tower. It’s pretty amazing! I’ve never seen the One World Trade Center in New York and this made me want to even more. The scene is so beautiful and such a wonderful tribute to Ground Zero.
The whole exhibit is breathtaking and the unveiling was such a fun event! The podium was made out of legos and even the scissors for the ribbon cutting were made out of legos! They invited the Carlsbad Police Department and honored them during the ceremony as well, which was sweet. We took my dad and my brother and we all had an amazing time at the unveiling and the park throughout the day.
If you are planning a trip to Legoland, CA anytime soon, do not miss out on Miniland USA, and make sure to take the time to admire the beautiful One World Trade Center replica and remember those who lost their lives on that terrible day, and all those who have fought to protect us since.
Can you imagine building a tower like this out of legos? It’s pretty amazing! Check it out!
