We decided it was time to transition Sawyer to a toddler bed around the same time we brought Oliver home. Because we’re crazy, of course.
But, it was so easy. The very first night he did not get out of bed once. Not once. And he slept all the way through the night! We thought it might be a crazy fluke but since then, he still never gets out of bed at night! It’s amazing, I thought it was going to be such a battle, but it wasn’t at all. Our secret?
The DockATot Grand.
I’m sure you’ve heard of DockATot, but if not, let me enlighten you. There’s a reason why this is one of the most popular parenting products on the market today. Because it serves multiple purposes and it works!
They offer 2 sizes, the Deluxe and the Grand. The Deluxe is meant for infants 0-9 months old, and the Grand is meant for toddlers 9 months-3 years. Its amazing for bed transitions because it helps them feel snug and comfortable in their new big kid bed!
We simply set ours on top of the mattress, give him a blankie, and he goes right to sleep! He never gets out of bed and the padding helps to prevent him from rolling out (although somehow, he has managed to a few times. He’s a restless sleeper!).
It’s also easily portable, making it great for travel or sleepovers at Grandma’s. It’s also great for lounging! We often bring it into our room or into the living room so Sawyer can be comfortable while watching a movie. The cover unzips and comes right off so it can easily be washed. You don’t have to worry about your messy toddler ruining the pretty cover.
For some reason, from the second the DockATot Grand was delivered, Sawyer was oddly drawn to it. As soon as we took it out of the box, he grabbed a pillow and a blanket, told us “night night” and laid right down in it in the middle of our living room. I have no idea how he even knew that’s what it was for! Babies and toddlers love these things! No wonder he was willing to stay in it all night long.
