Our Story

It all started in the summer of 2009.

I met a boy named Kurtis, and I was smitten.

On Spetember 24th, 2010, he gave me his class ring and asked me to be his.

And that was that!

On Christmas Eve, 2012, he gave me a beautiful diamond promise ring

And 8 months later, he fulfilled that promise, at my favorite place in the world.

A short 10 months later we found out we were expecting a baby! Surprise! A boy due in July 2015.

Sawyer Joshua Brown was born on June 26th 2015, 5 weeks premature, via emergency C-section, after I developed a scary case of severe preeclampsia. Miraculously, he was born with very strong lungs and needed no NICU time!

After a week in the hospital we got to go home and start our adventure as a family of 3.

After Sawyer’s first birthday, we decided to start trying for baby #2! We got pregnant almost right away, and unfortunately, lost it to an early miscarriage.

After the doctor’s gave us the okay to start trying again, we did. It took a little longer, but after 5 months we got pregnant again, and this time, it took.

After a rough, and high-risk pregnancy, my water broke at only 34 weeks pregnant on June 25th, 2017. I was in labor for 29 hours and at 7:14 am on June 26th, 2017, Oliver Zen Brown entered the world, claiming the exact same birthday as his older brother. I was able to do VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), which was a dream come true! But at 6 weeks premature, Oliver had trouble breathing and eating on his own, resulting in 16 days in Neonatal Intensive Care (the dreaded NICU).

After 16 long, hard, emotionally draining days (read about our NICU experience here and here), we were able to bring Oliver home.

He spent 3.5 months on oxygen support, before finally being weaned off just before Halloween.

And now all that’s left is forever.
