We recently traveled to Woodland Park Colorado and had an amazing weekend!
Weekends away are so needed. We made it a goal this year to get out and do more. Kurtis recently switched over to a 9-5 schedule with weekends off and so we made a pact to make the most of our weekends. That includes lots of family adventures and as many weekend getaways as we can afford. We have another one coming up next weekend and I cannot wait! Being more active really helps ease my anxiety. If you’re able to, I encourage you to get out and explore with your kids! It’s good for the soul.
When I started planning the boy’s join birthday party, I knew I wanted customized invitations. Thank you Shutterfly for providing the invites for this post! Ever since they were born on the same day, I’ve been trying to find ways to make sure we celebrate them individually on their birthday. Even though they were having a “joint” party, I split it up into two events- Sawyer’s Dino Party and Oliver’s Cake Smash. This way, we weren’t asking our family and friends to come out to two separate events, but they each had some time to be celebrated individually.
So, I sent two separate birthday party invitations, along with a little note explaining how the day would go. Shutterfly made this so easy!
As I’ve gotten older (and had more kids), I’ve realized just how easy it is to neglect yourself. Neglect yourself in the way that you forget to eat lunch and grab 2 of your kid’s dinosaur chicken nuggets. Neglect yourself in the way that your kids get all their checkups on time and are up to date on all their shots and you haven’t been to the doctor in 2 years.
As a mother, you give your children everything because you want them to have a spectacular life. But that doesn’t mean you own life can’t be spectacular.
When it comes to shopping for your paper needs, the internet can be an overwhelming place. There are so many businesses specializing in custom printing these days. So when you want to buy baby shower invitations, personal stationary, or business card, where do you turn?
When throwing a party of any kind, I love to use custom invitations. It really makes the event feel more special and fun. Anyone can go to the store and pick up a pack of invites, but personalizing your invitations can really add pizzaz to your event.

There is so much out there in terms of baby gear . It’s overwhelming! I remember when I was pregnant with Sawyer (my oldest), my husband and I went into Babies R’ Us (RIP) to start our registry. We walked out confused, defeated, angry, and frustrated. My husband and I aren’t big “fighters” and we fought the whole time we were in there! It was just so overwhelming! Which Pack n’ Play did we need? What stroller would fit our carseat? Which carseat was safest? Do babies really need their own nail clippers? Do we really need special washcloths? And on and on. It was a bad day.

You know the saying “this is why we can’t have nice things”? I’m pretty sure the reason behind that statement is always kids.
Kids destroy just about anything they touch. They’re messy. They spill. They get sick. How are you supposed to protect your nice things from them?
In short, you can’t. But there are some products out there that really keep things like this in mind and make cleanup easy.
UPDATE: Since originally writing this post it has come to my attention that SeaQuest Littleton has failed 2 animal welfare inspections in a row. I did not see anything concerning firsthand during my visit, but the public data released since then does not lie. SeaQuest has not been offering any refunds to passholders with concerns about this issue either. Because of this, I can no longer in good conscience recommend you visit this aquarium. I was so excited when I first heard that Colorado was getting a SeaQuest! We’ve been in need of a few more educational activities in the area and this seemed like the perfect addition.
