Hey all! Today I’m sharing a really great eco-friendly subscription box called Homegrown Collective!

Past boxes have included Home Remedies and Cure-Alls, Let Us Make Soap, The Beauty of Coconut, Honey: How Sweet it is, and DIY Detox in a Box! They design their boxes based on the season and how it will be useful during that time of year. Their goal is to help their members become greener and more self-sufficient by learning how to make things themselves that are much less harmful than the things you can buy on the shelves. Members have even coined it “Pinterest in a box!” The box I received was full of DIY projects perfect for a “Spa night”, they’ve really helped me minimize the chemicals in my beauty supplies even further!
Here’s what I got:
- 2 oz Activated Charcoal
- 4 oz Bentonite Clay
- 4 oz Diatomaceous Earth
- 1 oz Organic Rose Water
- 1 oz Organic Lavender Water
- 3 oz Dead Sea Salt
- 1 Glass Ball Jar
- 1 Clay Mixing Dish
And with it, I could make the following things:
- Teeth Whitener
- Lavender Face Mask
- Bentonite Clay and Rosewater Mask
- Diatomaceous and Dead Sea Salt Bath Soak
I went ahead and made everything and loved it! For the sake of this post not being too long, today I will be sharing with you the Lavender Face Mask and Diatomaceous and Dead Sea Salt Bath Soak.
For the face mask, I mixed all the ingredients together as instructed. I was happy to see there was still enough ingredients left over for me to make the mask a few more times! I applied it to a thin layer on my face and let it dry for a few minutes. Then, washed it off. My skin was so smooth and felt tighter! I loved it!
For the Bath Soak, I mixed all the ingredients together as instructed. I even added the optional ingredients: 1/4 cup regular salt, and a few drops essential oil of choice. I chose lavender oil to enhance the lavender fragrance and give the bath soak a calming effect. After I mixed it, I added it to the ball jar and sealed it shut! I tried it in my bath last night and it was so relaxing. The instructions recommended soaking for 15-20 minutes so your body has the chance to sweat, detox, and absorb all of the nutrients of the soak. That’s exactly what I did and I felt amazing afterwards! I already can’t wait to use it again!
The Bath Soak is made with Diatomaceous Earth which is a naturally-formed sedimentary rock. It acts as a mild abrasive, and can be used to cleanse topically or internally, it supports regularity and cleanses the body of toxic metals. It is often used in toothpaste or as an exfoliator. I had no idea such a things existed and it was so cool to learn. Homegrown Collective includes information about all of the ingredients and tolls they send you, so you can learn more about what you’re making and why it’s good for you.
I tried the rosewater mask as well, and honestly think I preferred it to the lavender mask. I could really feel my skin pulling and tightening while it was on. I’ve been using the charcoal to whiten my teeth as well and I’m starting to see a difference. I’ve always wanted to whiten my teeth but all of the options are so expensive, this is affordable and effective.
Homegrown Collective has helped me so much in my goal to live a more natural lifestyle. I love being able to detox in a relaxing bath or with a face mask at the end of a long day. It’s also great to pamper myself, as a busy working mom, I need to unwind! Not only are these products good for me, and for the Earth, but I had so much fun making them as well! It was really fun to DIY but not have to shop for all the products myself. It was great to be creative and make, but everything was conveniently delivered to my door!
